LAST Course for 2012 USPA Coach Certification Course October 06th 2012 Starts at 0900am Saturday

USPA Coach Certification Course for earning your first basic instructional rating. Course start’s Saturday October 6 2012. Contact Gene at gene@startskydiving.com if you are interested.

This is the fundamental entry level USPA Instructor rating.  It will be the foundation that you will build upon while you obtain all of your other ratings.  This course will give you the basic tools and understanding needed to instruct general skydiving concepts.  This course also teaches coaches how to teach group freefall skills and teach new students how to build upon their newly developed skill sets. The course focuses on adult learning principles, teaching techniques and understanding the ISP, as well as applying useful strategies to be successful in applying and teaching skydiving to novice students.

  •   Current USPA membership
  •   B-license
  •   Minimum of 100 jumps
  •   Have the required topics signed off on the Coach
  •   Proficiency Card prior to the course
  •   Have completed your written exam
  •   Have the USPA SIM and IRM

You need to have a current SIM and IRM for the course. ( Current SIM and IRM at Manifest )

LAST Course for 2012  Vector/Sigma Tandem Certification Course 06:00pm

To help your pursuit of becoming a full time skydiver, Start Skydiving offers the Vector/Sigma Tandem Certification Course, this course is for those of you who wish to become tandem Instructors. Course start’s Friday 19 October 06:00pm. Contact Gene at gene@startskydiving.com if you are interested.

THE NATURE OF THE COURSE
Each candidate is required to arrive at this course with all prerequisites completed, as specified on the Tandem Instructor Proficiency Card, This classroom, training, and evaluation for this course

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO PASS THIS COURSE
Practical:  Candidates for the USPA Tandem Instructor rating will be evaluated during the course for their ability to jump equipment and safely prepare and handle tandem students during actual tandem jumps with simulated students

TANDEM EVALUATION
Initial tandem evaluation phase.
The candidate will make five tandem jumps using tandem equipment under the supervision of the USPA Tandem Rating Course Director Practice tandem phase: The candidate will make a minimum of five more tandem jumps acting as the instructor with qualified experienced jumpers acting as students.

Non-Method-specific training evaluations.
Candidates will successfully train, observe, and critique at least one Category D to be preformed by the course director during the course (waived for instructors who hold a USPA Instructor rating in another discipline).

Written exam.
Prior to attending the course, each candidate must correctly answer 80% of the questions on an open-book examination covering

LAST Course for 2012 Canopy Skills Course  14 October 2012:

Come out and improve your canopy skills with Team Fastrax Swoop member, Ray Dutch. As we covered at Safety Day, there is no cap on improving your canopy skills; so let’s start this season off with getting reacquainted with our canopies. This a complete canopy course consisting of the five jumps required to obtain a USPA B-License. However, it is extremely beneficial to anyone who has not yet participated in such a courses.

SALUTING OUR MILITARY: Sgt. Vincent C. Hancock

Sgt. Vincent C. Hancock, 22, joined the Army in June 2006 and completed basic training the same year at Fort Sill, Okla. Upon graduation, Hancock entered Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and earned an Military Occupational Specialty as a Motor Vehicle Operator.

He began shooting as a young child and started competing when he was 11 years old. He has won World Cup events in 2005, 2006, and 2008; was named USA Shooting Shotgun Shooter of the Year in 2007 and USA Shooting Shooter of the Year in 2006; won the World Championship in Men’s Skeet in 2005; and in 2003 was the Junior Men’s Skeet National champion.

Hancock has earned the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Distinguished International Shooter Badge and Accessions Support Brigade Soldier of the Quarter, 1st Quarter, 2008.
